New Zealand secured a 21-run victory
against Pakistan in the second T20I of the five-match series at Seddon Park,
Hamilton. Pakistan faced early setbacks in their pursuit of the 195-run target,
losing openers Mohammad Rizwan and Saim Ayub. Despite a resilient 87-run
partnership between Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman, the team struggled after
Zaman's departure, reaching 125-6 in 14.3 overs. Although Azam top-scored with
66 runs, Adam Milne's four crucial wickets for New Zealand proved pivotal.
In the first innings, Finn Allen's explosive 74-run inning laid the foundation for a substantial total. Despite Allen's exit in the 13th over, New Zealand's momentum slowed, and Pakistani bowlers, led by Haris Rauf, staged a comeback. Rauf's three wickets in the 19th over restricted New Zealand to 194 runs. Apart from skipper Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan's bowlers made valuable contributions, creating a challenging yet achievable target. The series outcome remains uncertain, with upcoming matches determining the final result.
