Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)
chairman and ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan has been arrested in connection with
the May 9 attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ) of the Pakistan Army.
Currently held in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on judicial remand for two National
Accountability Bureau (NAB) references, Imran Khan's release orders in the
cipher case were issued on Monday.
Official confirmation of Imran Khan's
arrest in the GHQ attack case has been provided by authorities. Sources reveal
that Imran Khan is implicated in all cases related to the May 9, 2023
incidents.
Anti-terrorism court judge Malik Ijaz
Asif arrived at Adiala Jail to preside over the GHQ gate attack case against
Imran Khan. The hearing for another case against him, registered at Waris Khan
police station and linked to the May 9 incidents, is also scheduled to take
place in jail.
Investigation officers involved in the
May 9 incident cases have also reached Adiala Jail. These officers are expected
to brief the judge on the investigation report and Imran Khan's role in the
cases.
In a separate development, Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were indicted in the 190 million pounds case. The indictment hearing, presided over by accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir, took place in Adiala Jail on Tuesday.
