Referendum for Khalistan Independence Initiated in San Francisco
On January 28th, the Sikh for Justice
(SFJ) launched a political campaign in San Francisco, marking the commencement
of a referendum for Khalistan independence.
Protest Against Indian Government during Consulate Visit
In a demonstration against the Indian
government, Sikh for Justice organized a protest during the visit of an Indian
consulate team to San Francisco. Hundreds of Sikh participants surrounded the
Indian consulate, expressing their grievances through a rally.
Sikh Efforts for Independence Persist Amid Opposition
Despite India's unsuccessful attempts to
thwart Sikh aspirations for independence, SFJ remains steadfast in its pursuit,
according to Sikh leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. The rally prominently featured
images of martyred Sikhs, including those involved in the assassination of
Indira Gandhi.
Allegations of Modi's Involvement in Violence
Gurpatwant Singh Pannun accused Prime
Minister Modi of unleashing a new wave of violence, resulting in the killing of
Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. Pannun emphasizes that Sikhs historically
respond to injustices against them and asserts that the cycle of violence
perpetuates.
Choosing the Path of Advocacy Over Violence
Despite the challenges, Sikhs have chosen
the path of peaceful advocacy over violence in their quest for the freedom of
Khalistan, affirms Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
