India Gears Up for T20 Clash Against Afghanistan
India is set to take on Afghanistan in
the first match of a three-game T20 series at Mohali on Thursday, January 11.
The highly anticipated encounter marks India's final T20 series before the
upcoming T20 World Cup in June. The Board of Control for Cricket in India
(BCCI) announced a 16-member squad, featuring the return of Rohit Sharma and
Virat Kohli. Rohit Sharma will lead the side in the absence of Hardik Pandya
and Suryakumar Yadav, who are sidelined due to injuries. Notable senior
players, including Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, and
Mohammed Siraj, have been rested for this series.

will open the batting, marking his 149th appearance for the national team.
This will be Rohit's first T20I since the 2022 T20 World Cup.

brings his impressive T20I record of 430 runs in 15 matches last year.
- Shubman Gill: With Virat Kohli absent for the first
T20I, Gill is slated to bat at number three, aiming to make the most of

- Tilak Varma: The southpaw, making his case for T20
World Cup selection, may slot in at four, showcasing his potential in the
middle order.
