Saudi Arabia introduces five new unique categories of Iqama.


In addition to living and working, Iqama holders can benefit from various facilities.

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has introduced five new categories of unique iqamas. People who own these iqamas will enjoy many facilities apart from living and working. According to Arab media, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, Director of Unique Iqama Center, has identified five unique Iqamas, including special talents, investors, property owners, entrepreneurs and talented people. He said new categories would be also introduced intended for individuals with outstanding ability to perform exceptionally in the editorial, healthcare, academic, or research fields.

He said the second category is based on talent and those who have demonstrated exceptional skills in culture, sports and other fields are eligible to obtain this status, the third category is for investors and the fourth category will be issued to individuals. While engaged in commercial activities, the fifth category is reserved for ownership of real estate. People with unique iqamas will get residency and work in Saudi Arabia along with many other facilities.

Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi said new categories were introduced to make the country the center of the world's attention and to realize the vision of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He said the aim is to attract talent. It is a global hub that contributes to the national economy through investment, creation of employment opportunities and migration of academics to Saudi Arabia.

These five new categories of iqamas are said to have been developed in collaboration with strategic partners in the public sector and provide beneficiaries of these iqamas with a number of benefits, including the ability to engage in commercial and real estate operations. There are also other functions provided by the Center for Privileged Residency in cooperation with government agencies, including obtaining work permits for iqama holders and their families.
