A Chinese company has prepared the first electric public transport bus, marking a breakthrough in sustainable mobility. As a step towards a cleaner and greener future, Islamabad will see a transformation of its public transport system.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by Pakistani authorities, highlighting joint efforts to modernize public transport. Capital Development Authority (CDA) officials worked with a third party to carefully inspect and give approval to the state-of-the-art electric bus.
Anticipating a wave of positive changes, CDA announced that 30 state-of-the-art electric buses are preparing to embark on their maiden journey to Pakistan. The announcement follows a decision last year by the CDA to sign a contract with a foreign company for a total of 160 electric buses.
These eco-friendly buses will not be confined to garages, but will soon be plying on 13 public roads in the federal capital. Additionally, the electric bus line will be seamlessly integrated with the existing Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus line, promising a comprehensive and interconnected public transport system.
In the first phase of implementation, residents of Islamabad can expect to see electric buses playing his two major routes. The IJP Road to PIMS and Taramuri Chowk to PIMS routes will ease the movement of residents and provide cleaner and quieter alternatives.
To ensure the smooth functioning of these electrical wonders, CDA is also progressing with infrastructure development. State-of-the-art charging stations are being built, highlighting a commitment to sustainability and innovation.
