Artificial intelligence is now capable of
providing predictions, even delving into aspects one might prefer not to know.
An AI death calculator, known as Life2vec, has emerged with the ability to
eerily accurately estimate when an individual may pass away.
How ChatGPT calculates
human lives
This tool relies on the analysis of data
from 6 million Danish individuals and utilizes the technology behind ChatGPT,
specifically transformer models. The findings of this study, titled "Using
sequences of life-events to predict human lives," were published in the
journal Nature.
Life expectancy predictions generated by
Life2vec take into account various factors such as income, profession, and
medical records, even providing insights into an individual's financial
standing at the end of their life. The research, covering aspects of
individuals' lives from 2008 to 2016, involved identifying patterns in the data
through algorithmic analysis to determine whether someone had passed away by
2020.
The Life2vec model exhibited a 78%
accuracy rate in its predictions. Factors like higher income and holding
leadership positions were associated with longer lifespans, while detrimental
habits like smoking were linked to shorter life expectancies. The tool also
considered lifestyle elements such as exercise habits and mental health.
In the coding system employed by Life2vec, various aspects of an individual's life were assigned codes. For example, S52 denoted a forearm break, 072 represented postpartum hemorrhage, and POS3513 indicated someone working as a computer systems technician.
Although Life2vec has undergone testing
on a group of individuals aged between 35 and 65 in Denmark, with half of them
having passed away, the tool is not yet accessible to the public.
