The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has cracked down on major business centers involved in tax evasion in Lahore.

According to FBR, large consignments of illegal branded cigarettes were recovered from reputed tobacco shops located at Gulberg Hussain Chowk, Allama Iqbal Town Moon Market, DHA Phase 1, 4 and Phase 5 in Sumanabad.

FBR teams also busted duty-free cigarette smugglers in Sheikhupura, Nankana and Kasur.

Rs 1,062 million was paid as customs duty on cigarettes seized in Lahore district.
