At -4 degrees, the Chiefs and Dolphins play the fourth coldest game in NFL history.

This is sad. The temperature at kickoff was -4 degrees Celsius, making it the fourth coldest game in NFL history. The wind chill was -27 at the beginning. This is the third coldest season in NFL history.

Because of the cold nature of South Floridians, playing at Arrowhead Stadium is like playing in a refrigerator for the Chiefs. But the Chiefs handled the low temperatures better than the Miami Dolphins. The Chiefs aren't the best team this season, but they're tough. Kansas City's defense was the best of the Patrick Mahomes era and was impressive on Saturday.

The Chiefs held on to beat the Dolphins 26-7 despite the inclement weather. They made a few field goals, but that was mainly because Miami's offense was lacking outside of Tyreek Hill's big play. The Dolphins haven't made the playoffs since 2000.

It wasn't an easy season for the Chiefs, but they won eight NFL games. And those hard lessons will help Kansas City play its first road game with Mahomes at quarterback next week.

Sometimes both crimes are plagued by simple routines that seem simple over time. But the Chiefs handled the cold better than the Dolphins.

Miami had an important game in the first half. Hill dropped deep into the defense and made a catch for 53 yards. More than half of Tua Tagvailoa's 94 passing yards came in the first half. He completed just 6 of 11 passes before halftime. Tagovailoa had just 100 yards remaining and the Chiefs led 26-7 in the fourth quarter.

More than 12 hours before the start of Saturday's game, fans began arriving at the park gates and lining up in the streets. There are fewer distracted drivers than there used to be, but the smell of pre-game barbecue still lingers in the parking lot.
